The story surrounding Kerrisdale is a good example of how some words tend to be corrupted over time. Originally, the neighborhood was named Kerry’s Dale, whose namesake was from Kerrydale in Garlock, Scotland. William McKinnon, a Scottish woman who settled in the area around the neighborhood’s foundation, named it after her Scottish home, which was Kerrydale.
